Professional Swedish Translator with 20 Years of Experience

Hello, my name is Malin. I offer quality translations of technical manuals, medical technical manuals and documentation, as well as software and websites, from English to Swedish and Spanish to Swedish.

For two decades, I’ve worked full-time as a independent translator, translating, proof-reading and reviewing thousands of words. When you hire a translation agency, your text often end up with someone like me. If you prefer direct collaboration, feel free to reach out. Whether you’re an LSP looking to extend your vendor list, a business seeking a long-term dedicated translator, or an individual needing a one-time project, I’m here to help.

Translation and Editing: English and Spanish to Swedish

My language pairs are English to Swedish and Spanish to Swedish, translating exclusively into Swedish. In addition to translation, I offer transcreation, localization, proofreading, editing, post-editing of machine translations, and subtitle translation.

Specializing in Technical and Medical Translations

Technical Manuals – Cameras, motorcycles, GPS devices. I’m one of the few who reads technical manuals cover to cover!
Medical Technology – User manuals, software, clinical trial data, product labels, marketing materials, and instructions for use (IFUs) associated with medical technology products.
Website Localization – General content, SEO optimization, product descriptions, and market adaptation.
Software Localization – Apps, software interfaces, help files, and user guides.

Translation Tools

My current work tools include the CAT tools Trados Studio and memoQ translator pro, the terminology management tool Trados MultiTerm, and language quality assurance tools Verifika and Xbench. I also utilize additional client-licensed tools. While I’m exploring AI tools, I’m not fully proficient with them yet.

Educated and experienced

I have a Master’s degree in Translation Studies from Stockholm University (2005), a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Uppsala University (2003) and I have diplomas from introductional university courses in law and medicine from Uppsala University as well as Spanish studies from the University of León in Spain.

Before freelancing, I worked part-time in order administration at the translation agency Eqvator in Stockholm, gaining valuable experience from the perspective of an LSP.

Member of Professional Organizations

I am a member of The Swedish Association of Professional Translators and Authorised Interpreters (SFÖ-SAT) and Översättarcentrum, an organization for published translators. You can also find me on Proz.com. To stay informed, I’m an affiliate member of the Swedish Society for Medical Engineering and the Swedish Pharmaceutical Society. I have an extensive network within the Swedish translation community and collaborate with colleagues on projects whenever needed.

Thinking forward

While computer-based tools are nothing new for translators, including computer-assisted translation (CAT) and machine translation (MT), AI technology has introduced a host of new tools that require updated skills. It is less about learning how to use the tools and more about finding those that do not, in any way, compromise the confidentiality of the information. I am currently taking courses and exploring these new tools, and I’ll keep you updated once I decide which ones to possibly implement. Let me know what you need!

Published translations

Due to confidentialty, I can’t display most of my work. But I have occasionally translated non-fiction books and children’s books, which you can find in libraries.
